The Hungarian Europe Society organised a workshop together with the Stefan Batory Foundation, Warsaw, the Association for International Affairs, Prague and the Research Center of the Slovak Foreign Policy Association, Bratislava entitled "V4 and Eastern Neighbours: Schengen and Its Impact on Mutual Co-operation" on 10 June 2009 at the "Aranytíz" Cultural Centre in Budapest.
The aim of the workshop was to present the results of the research project “Monitoring and Analysis of the Visa Policies of the Visegrad Countries“. The project analysed the relations of the V4 with their eastern neighbours and other non-EU countries regarding visa issuing policies.

The workshop focused on the dilemma how the needs for both security and justice inside the Schengen area effect the rights and opportunities of third country citizens to enter the territory of the European Union.
