István Hegedűs and Erik Uszkiewicz travelled for the kick-off meeting of the EU-funded DIACOMET project held on 13-14 June 2023 in Kaunas, Lithuania. The workshop took place at the Vytautas Magnus University, the coordinating institution of the project. Following the grant application process and administrative preparations, the participating organisations of the consortium from eight countries, including the Hungarian Europe Society, came together to discuss the main tasks, challenges and the timetable. The programme included a presentation by the former general secretary of the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) Aidan White, member of the DIACOMET Advisory Board. Participants explored dilemmas of potential ethical dialogic communication at round-table discussions, whilst presentations were held on the state of the media in the involved countries.

The programme of the kick-off meeting is available here.

The press release on the launch of the project is available here.

The next meeting will take place in April 2024 in Budapest to be organised by the Hungarian Europe Society. The whole implementation period of the project exceeds between 1 June 2023 and 31 May 2026.
