On 14 April 2021 the Hungarian Europe Society joined the protest of numerous NGOs urging the Egyptian authorities to release Ahmen Samir Santawy. The researcher and master’s student of anthropology at the Central European University has been arbitrarily detained on fictitious charges since 1 February 2021.
