Hegedűs István was quoted in the article published in Le Figaro "La Hongrie et la Pologne peuvent-elles se passer du plan de relance européen?" on 19 November 2020. The Hungarian and the Polish governments might try to block the approval of the Multiannual Financial Framework as well as the NextGenerationEU program rejecting the rule of law conditionality. Nevertheless, as Hegedűs argued, "the moment of truth has arrived to Viktor Orbán: if there is no problem with the rule of law in Hungary, as he proclaimed, why wouldn't he accept its conditionality criteria?"
