On 8 September 2015, Hungarian NGO-s, including the Hungarian Europe Society, in a joint statement, asked the Hungarian government to acknowledge humanitarian aspects when dealing with the refugees and expressed their gratitude to the volunteers for their work.
"The creation of a Europe-wide database of NGO-s supporting the development of European integration, as well as a database on private foundations and other sponsors ready to support them, would highly assist the activities and horizontal cooperation in this field.
Zoltán Gyenes, official at the Directorate General for Economic and Financial Affairs (DG ECFIN) of the European Commission made a presentation entitled Hungary and the excessive deficit procedure to members of HES on 14 June 2013 in Brussels.
On 11 July 2012, the Hungarian News Agency (MTI) refused to publish the declaration of the Hungarian Europe Society in an e-mail sent to the NGO. In this statement HES had congratulated to the journalists Aranka Szávuly and Balázs Nagy Navarro to their media prize announced in Leipzig.
