Disrespect for European Values in Hungary, 2010-2014

On 24 November 2014 the Hungarian Europe Society signed the analysis prepared by four Hungarian NGOs (the Eötvös Károly Policy Institute, the Hungarian Helsinki Committee, the Hungarian Civil Liberties Union and the Mérték Media Monitor) assessing the current deficiencies of the rule of law, democracy, pluralism and respect for human rights in Hungary.

This year once again HES organised the meetings in Budapest and an excursion to the countryside for the fellows of the German Marshall Fund between 1-5 May 2015.
István Hegedűs represented HES at the conference entitled European Forum on Media Freedom organised by European Alternatives on 13 May 2011 in the Italian city.
"The creation of a Europe-wide database of NGO-s supporting the development of European integration, as well as a database on private foundations and other sponsors ready to support them, would highly assist the activities and horizontal cooperation in this field.

Zoltán Gyenes, official at the Directorate General for Economic and Financial Affairs (DG ECFIN) of the European Commission made a presentation entitled Hungary and the excessive deficit procedure to members of HES on 14 June 2013 in Brussels.
István Hegedűs made a presentation for students of Princeton University at the seat of HES on 10 July 2015.
