Declaration of the Hungarian Europe Society on the publication of Nézőpont Institute

We might even welcome the arduous work of Nézőpont Institute - albeit with taxpayers' money - to gather serious Hungarian and international criticisms of the Orbán government's Authorisation Act*. However, their research was  predictably marred by some low quality and dull conspiracy theory, the essence of which, to quote Mao Zedong's comic observation, is that all Hungarians know each other - spiced up with the surprising conclusion that many liberals also have jobs. It is a special honour that the Hungarian European Society is also mentioned in their list, personally singling out some of our assumed ringleader members**. Our only issue is that due to the missing verb in the sentence referring to our Society, we cannot infer whether, as indicated by the title of the chapter, we are part of a "supranational coalition" conducting a "political attack" on the government; or alternatively, just like the Prime Minister - as the previous sentence*** would suggest - we have also been given unlimited power in Hungary.

We could have been informed in advance!
